Empty Vessels

On a recent road trip from Florida to Tennessee I began to think about all the empty structures in many rural areas. I love to see barns and  homes that have been empty for years and yet sit sit totally untouched. Each with its own character and past. I tried to imagine what each structure must have been like in its day. The many lives and memories that surround each home. Children running in and out of the doors, smells coming from the kitchen, laughter and singing. It really brings home the idea that our lives on this earth are but a moment in comparison to eternity. I wonder how many of those homes were once filled with singing and the love of Christ.

So many things that fill our lives are temporal. How much of the activity in our home is eternal.

We are ambassadors for Christ in our homes and workplaces. We are to be examples to our husbands and children.  Spending time in the word will build each of us up, renew our minds and equip us to have the mind of Christ. We are to serve Christ as we serve and care for our families.

We are vessels. Are we one of honor or one of dishonor? This is a choice we must make as believers, facing the challenges of each day... to walk in love and represent our savior in everything that we do.

May the memories that fill our homes weave a tapestry of Gods grace and his glory in Christ.
